Trade in fear: “useful terrorists" of the Kremlin killed Ukrainians in Afghanistan

Maniacal desire of Russia to seek the pain points of Western countries and put pressure on them led its leadership to create a strong alliance with the Afghan Taliban. And now, we can say with confidence that Moscow is the main sponsor of terror in Afghanistan. The bloody drama that took place in Kabul a few days ago is an additional confirmation of this.Russian chance for the TalibanThe international isolation, in which Russia is forced to live after the annexation of the Crimea and the unleashing of war in the east of Ukraine, makes the Kremlin leadership to seek new and new opportunities for compelling Western countries to negotiate.Moscow seeks to exert pressure on Washington to gain at least a minimal hope of alleviating its unenviable position. Arsenal to achieve this goal is extremely primitive and consists in fomenting new crisis situations or escalating in already existing hotbeds of tension. At the same time, it does not matter for Russians whom they will support in order to strengthen their positions. The anti-democratic Assad regime that kills Syrians, the frenzied leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, who is a nuclear threat to all mankind, terrorist groups of the Afghan Taliban, which are fighting with the pro-Western government. All these are quite adequate allies for Russia, because they have a clearly anti-American orientation and can be used in the course of "trading" with USA          .Innocent people in different parts of the globe are victims of the global subversion of Putin`s regime.A few days ago, 9 citizens of Ukraine (according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Afghanistan) died from the hands of the militants of the radical terrorist group "Haqqani Network" at the Inter-Continental hotel in Kabul. It was the Taliban who became Russia`s key partner in Afghan affairs now.Moscow simply has nothing to offer to the government of Afghanistan because of a total deficit of resources, and Russia is forced to work closely with less formal partners. And, the terrorists from the Taliban use this Russian "chance" in full. The defense industry of Russia in the service of the Taliban and the Haqqani NetworkThe international community has paid close attention to the relationship between the Kremlin and the Taliban leaders after the CNN channel described the close ties of Russians with the Taliban in the summer of 2017.Then, in two videos with scenes from the battlefield in Afghanistan, the Taliban fighters were shown sniper rifles, Kalashnikov assault rifles and heavy machine guns, which were probably part of the weapons delivered from Russia. At the same time, one of the militant groups clearly noted that they received weapons free of charge across the border with Tajikistan and that it was provided by the "Russians". Then, the Russian Foreign Ministry, in its characteristic manner, refused to comment on this information and called such statements "completely false".At the same time, there is a huge amount of facts about the deep involvement of the Putin regime in schemes that comprehensively undermine the fragile stability in Afghanistan. Zamir Kabulov, the special representative of Putin`s government for Afghanistan, does not even consider the Taliban to be terrorists. "Now, the Taliban is a"national liberation movement", - notes the key Russian negotiator for Afghanistan. Moreover, Kabulov regards the Taliban as a fully constructive side in matters of internal Afghan settlement. "We maintain contacts with the leadership of the Taliban movement, encouraging them to the process of national reconciliation," he said at the 5th international conference on security in Moscow.Against this backdrop, Afghan security forces and local authorities in the western regions of the country stated in the fall of 2017 that for more than two years Russians have been supporting militants of the Taliban and Haqqani Network in the west of the country. This support includes the supply of arms and ammunition, as well as the provision of military advisers who trained militants. A source in Afghanistan`s intelligence agency commented to the Salaam Times that "Taliban fighters are fighting with the security forces in the provinces of Farah, Ghor, Herat and Badghis, using weapons and financial assistance from Russia and Iran".According to him, modern weapons and money received from Moscow significantly strengthened the power of the Taliban in these provinces. In particular, the militants seized part of the western provinces of Farah and Ghor over the past two years thanks to Russian support."The security forces are constantly discovering the modern Russian weapons used by the Taliban on the battlefield, and such weapons are only in the arsenal of the Russian army", - the source said.Farhad Bakhtavar, a Farah provincial council deputy, openly stated that Russia supports the Taliban with weapons of its own. He pointed out: "The weapons used by the militants in my region are very advanced, and so much so that even the Afghan Special Forces do not have access to such weapons. The Russians support terrorists who daily kill our soldiers and civilians, which is a very hostile policy towards the Afghan people and government".On September 28, 2017, press officer of the headquarters of police forces in the province of Farah Iqbal Baacher said that 30 Taliban fighters were killed during one operation in the Bala Buluk district and Russian weapons were seized. We are talking about 82-mm recoilless offensive weapons, equipped with laser night vision devices. The profound interest is the information that the Russian delegation held a meeting with the leaders of the fighters from the "Haqqani Network" in February 2017.The parties agreed that Moscow would provide supplying weapons and other equipment to the extremists every month. Russian military advisers in the provinces of Kunduz and Badakhshan in every possible way helped militants from this organization. This kind of support for the radicals from the Haqqani Network is more than ever worthwhile, especially since even Pakistan has recognized them as a terrorist organization and has stopped supplying. The terrorist from Haqqani Network had already attacked the Inter-Continental Hotel in Kabul on June 28, 2011. 21 people were killed, including nine attackers as a result of the attack.Kremlin money for Afghan extremistsIn addition to arms supplies for the Taliban, Russia also supplied militants with financial resources. The London Times indicates that the Taliban received about 170 million Afgani ($ 2.5 million) per month from fuel trading.Russians sent tankers with fuel to Afghan companies operating under the "roof" of the Taliban fighters during 18 months. "Initially, these were just test deliveries in the form of several trucks", - says the local oil trader, - "but then suddenly the supply volume soared to dozens of tanks every month".Moscow provided fuel to these firms on a no-cost basis, and they paid only import tax. After the sale of the donated gasoline, the money went into the hands of the Taliban. The described "fuel scheme" is just one of the many ways to finance the Taliban by the Russians.Mullah Manan Niyazi, deputy head of one of the Taliban groups, said that they have had fruitful relations with Moscow for more than four years.Taliban was received a lot of money and weapons from Russia as well as from Iran during this time. "Over the years, our fighters received millions of dollars of financial assistance and hundreds of samples of various weapons from them. Dozens of Russian and Iranian intelligence officers met with Taliban field commanders who were subordinate to Mullah Heybatullah Akhundzade", - Niyazi said.Russia also established the Taliban office in Tajikistan, headed by Haji Ibrahim, representing the interests of Mullah Heybatullah. Russian military advisers trained Taliban fighters on the territory of Tajikistan and armed them before they were sent to Afghanistan. Deliveries of the weapons went through Iran and Tajikistan.Another source, the former governor of Kunduz Province, Mohammad Omar Safi, says that Russian relations with the Taliban were established in 2014 in Kulyab, Tajikistan, where the secret ruler of Kunduz from the Taliban, Mullah Abdul Salam Akhund, met with Russian representatives.According to Safi, Russia`s support for the Taliban twice led to the fall of Kunduz in the hands of terrorists. And Moscow continues to supply the Taliban with weapons and money so far. Kabul has detailed evidence of financial and arms ties between Russians and the Taliban, but they have refused to disclose these documents so far, and not wanting to spoil the Afghan-Russian relations. In addition, Russians constantly conduct reconnaissance operations on Afghan territory, using bases in Tajikistan. The Russian system, deployed on the Afghan-Tajik border, is capable of radio monitoring at a distance of up to 400 kilometers. The commander of the Afghan government forces in Kunduz Kassim Dzhangalba notes bitterly that a large number of Russian-made weapons seized in fights, unidentified helicopters found in the border areas, are the most reliable evidence of Russia`s assistance to the Taliban.Dzhangalba says that the Taliban governor in this area Molla Abdulkasym is constantly in contact with the Russians, and notes: "If they will get surface-to-air missiles, we will only have to dream about peace".Chaos in an unnecessary countryRussian experts agree that Afghanistan is the most problematic country in Central Asia, and Moscow has no significant national interests there.A member of the Scientific Council of the Carnegie Moscow Center, Alexei Malashenko, believes that it is simply impossible to achieve the success in all areas for such a poor country as Russia. Everything has to be paid for: for the Eurasian Economic Union, for the Crimea, for the Donbass, for Abkhazia, now for Syria.Even Putin`s special representative for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, admits that economically the country has no prospects for Moscow. "As for Russia`s economic interests, they are minimal in Afghanistan. Exploration of natural resources was conducted here by Soviet geologists, but their extraction is too labor-consuming and costly".Then, why the Kremlin should support arms and finance to the Taliban? The answer lies in the fact that Russians want to pressure Washington more on the Afghan issue after the withdrawal of the bulk of the NATO contingent from the country.Moscow wants to fill the vacuum of influence in the country and in every possible way counteracts the United States. This new position of Russia was formed after the Russian invasion of part of Ukraine in 2014.The Russians began supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan because the USA poses a threat to their country in the issues of the Crimea and the Donbass.Establishing a dialogue with the Taliban is also part of the pressure on the government of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, which Moscow sees as an ally of Washington. The representatives of the Taliban in a conversation with reporters Reuters say: "We and Russia have a common enemy. We want to drive the US and its allies out of Afghanistan. The Russians also want to move all foreign forces from the country. Also, the same Kabulov said: "A part of the Taliban sincerely considers themselves, as patriots of the country and defenders of the principles of Islam, which are trampled upon by foreign occupiers”. In his opinion, it means that the interests of the Taliban and Russia "objectively coincide".Another reason for the Taliban`s rapprochement with Russia is the emergence of the ISIS terrorist organization in Afghanistan, or rather its "resettlement" from Syria and Iraq in recent times.Kabulov underlines that Taliban leaders do not want to become a means for global jihad and an instrument in the hands of ISIS or Al-Qaeda.They are primarily interested in the situation inside Afghanistan. Local forces extremely concerned about this situation and preferred a treaty with Russia, with which they had previously waged a large-scale struggle.A member of the Afghan parliament, Zakaria Zakariya, complained to the Salaam Times that the Russian support of the Taliban is a direct interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan, which is unacceptable. At the same time, Moscow uses the ISIS factor as an excuse for supporting other extremists, with which the government and its international partners are fighting. The American NATO commander in Afghanistan, John Nicholson stresses that the public legitimization, which Russia has provided to the Taliban, undermines the government`s efforts in Kabul and NATO forces, and increases instability in the country. What are they playing in Moscow? All the Kremlin`s actions are the trade in air and fear. In the context of such trade, on the one hand, Russia makes it clear to the United States that Kremlin is in close relations with the Taliban, and if USA will not make concessions, Moscow will have nothing to lose and will continue to supply the Taliban with weapons. Unfortunately, Russia has enough old Soviet weapons. On the other hand, Russia offers mediation to the Taliban for the partial withdrawal from the list of terrorists, and in raising their status, at least to "useful terrorists".Thirdly, Russia promotes the idea that ISIS is presenting a more threat than the Taliban for destabilization of the situation in Afghanistan, and that the problem of ISIS can be solved with the help of the Taliban and through mediation of Russia. Therefore, the chaos that the Kremlin is spreading on Afghan soil by maintaining an alliance with terrorists from the Taliban mercilessly destroys the country and takes the lives of innocent people, including Ukrainian citizens.IR
